Essex writers invited to Essex Authors Day at Chelmsford Library on Saturday
Essex writers of all levels of experience are invited to learn crucial tricks of the trade from three established authors this weekend. Essex Authors Day is on Saturday 25 September, at the Meetings Hub in Chelmsford Library. The programme will comprise of three exciting seminars, led by experienced authors Jonathan Crane, Simon Edge, and Lizzie Chantree. Cllr Louise McKinlay, Deputy Leader of Essex County Council and Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Libraries are valued by us and our residents for many reasons and we fully understand and recognize their importance. “I am keen that we place libraries at the heart of our communities and events such as Essex Authors Day are another step towards achieving this.” Each seminar covers a different topic, supporting local writers with advice and information. The seminars cover the craft of writing, submissions and editing process, and how to market your book. Tickets cost £5 per person, per session, and must be booked in advance. The sessions available to be booked are: Join Jonathan Crane, author of We Need to Talk, at his Craft of Writing seminar for examples and practical exercises to explore writing techniques, help you shape your ideas, and find material to write about. Simon Edge is the author of The Hopkins Conundrum and The End of the World is Flat. Join his seminar to learn from his experience as a senior editor and creative writing lecturer about the practicalities of the Submission and Editing process; with insights into what publishers are looking for and how to develop your manuscript. Lizzie Chantree's seminar, How to Market Your Book, provides information, tips, and advice about promoting yourself and your work.
